Pay public university fees through eCitizen

Public universities · sources read 3 Oct 2026

Public universities now take fees through eCitizen. Log in to your university's student portal, open the eCitizen payment link (at Kenyatta University it's under My Finances), enter the amount and pay there, so the money shows on your fee statement.

Fee
We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.
Where
Online, through your university's student portal and its eCitizen page (for example ku.ecitizen.go.ke or jkuat.ecitizen.go.ke)
Go to eCitizen

Steps

  1. Log in to your university's student portal (for Kenyatta University: portal.ku.ac.ke).
  2. Go to the finance section (My Finances at KU) and read the payment instructions.
  3. Click the eCitizen payment link and choose the Fee Payment tab.
  4. Check the semester is right, enter the amount, click Pay and pick your payment channel to finish.

Watch out

  • Don't pay straight to eCitizen paybill 222222 from your phone. Start from the link in your student portal so the money reflects on your fee account.
  • At JKUAT you must pay at least 60% of the semester fees before you can register for units.

Who can apply

  • Students of public universities that bill through eCitizen, such as Kenyatta University.
