Register and license a TVET institution with TVETA

Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority · sources read 2 Oct 2026

Apply online on TVET MIS (mis.tveta.go.ke). A private college first gets a free Letter of No Objection for its name and registers the business name on eCitizen, then fills the form, pays, and is inspected by TVETA before it is registered and licensed.

Fee
We couldn't confirm a fee from the official page. Check it there before you pay.

  • For the Letter of No Objection: a copy of each director's ID card

Steps

  1. Sign up for an institution account on TVET MIS and activate it from the link sent to your email.
  2. Private colleges: propose a name and apply for a Letter of No Objection. It is free.
  3. Private colleges: register the business name with the Registrar of Companies on eCitizen, attaching the letter.
  4. Fill in the institution application on MIS and pay the fee through eCitizen.
  5. TVETA inspects the institution, then registers and licenses it if it passes.

Watch out

  • Renewal, new programmes, moving premises and name or ownership changes are also applied for on MIS.

Who can apply

  • Public and private TVET institutions. Only private ones need the Letter of No Objection first.
