Register with NSSF and check your NSSF statement

Take your ID (and an employer letter if you're employed) to any NSSF office and they'll register you and give you an NSSF card. You can ask NSSF for a free statement of your contributions any time.

- Where
- At any NSSF branch office. Once registered, you can set up an online account on the NSSF Self Service portal (you'll still need to visit a branch to get it approved).
What you need
- Original National ID, Alien Card or Passport, plus a copy
- If employed: an introduction letter from your employer
Steps
- Go to the NSSF office nearest you with your documents. They'll record your details and register you.
- You'll get an NSSF card. Give your employer the NSSF number on it so they can pay into your account.
- Self-employed? Pay at least KSh 200 as your first contribution to activate your membership.
- To check what you've saved, ask NSSF for a statement of account. It's free and shows your contributions and the interest they've earned.
Watch out
- Your NSSF number stays the same for life. When you change jobs, don't register again; just give your new employer the same number.
- If your employer hasn't registered with NSSF or signed you up, report it at your nearest NSSF office.
- You can top up your contributions any time by dialling *222# and paying with M-Pesa.
