Update your token meter (Update Token Meter Yako)

When your prepaid meter is due for an update, the person who buys the next tokens gets two 20-digit codes by SMS. Load all old tokens first, then key in the two codes in order, just like a token. It's free.

- On your meter's keypad (CIU), using codes Kenya Power sends by SMS when you buy tokens
Steps
- Load any tokens you already bought before you start.
- Buy tokens as usual. If your meter is scheduled, the reset and update codes come by SMS to the number that bought the tokens.
- Key in the two 20-digit codes in the correct order, the same way you load a token.
- Now load your new token. If the meter accepts it, the update worked.
- Not sure or stuck? Call 97771.
Watch out
- Old tokens not loaded before the update can't be loaded afterwards.
- A rejected token often means the two codes weren't keyed in one after the other, or there are codes waiting to be loaded.
- The update is free. Don't pay anyone for it.

- All prepaid (token) electricity meters.
