Upload school-based assessment (SBA) scores and projects on the KNEC CBA portal

The head teacher or principal logs in to the KNEC CBA portal (cba.knec.ac.ke) with the school's username and password, downloads the SBA tools, and uploads every learner's scores before the deadline. For 2026, written-test scores are due by 23 October and Grade 10 projects and practicals by 31 October.

What you need
- The school's CBA portal username and password, and the school's registered phone to receive the one-time password (OTP)
Steps
- Log in at cba.knec.ac.ke with the school username and password. An OTP is sent to the school's registered phone.
- Download the assessment tools. Print tools with colour images in colour, or load them on the school's digital devices.
- Subject teachers give the tests, projects or practicals and score them using the scoring guides provided.
- Upload the scores of all learners on the CBA portal before the deadline. A step-by-step user manual is on the portal.
Watch out
- Locked out? Use the "forgot password" button on the CBA portal to reset the school password.
- Inflated or made-up scores not based on the learner's work count as exam malpractice and can lead to action under the KNEC Act.
- Grade 10 SBA scores count for 15% of the learner's overall score at the end of Grade 12, so keep all records and evidence.

- Schools, through the head teacher (Grades 3 to 8) or principal (Grade 10) using the school's login.
- Subject teachers give the tests, score them and upload learners' results.
