Go to SHA

What you need

  • A copy of your own national ID and passport-size photos
  • For a spouse: a copy of their ID and a passport-size photo
  • For a child: a birth certificate (or a birth notification if the baby is under six months) and a passport-size photo
  • For an adopted or orphaned child: an adoption order, or a will, deed or court order proving guardianship

Steps

  1. Log in to afyayangu.go.ke and click the Add Dependents link to upload your dependants' details.
  2. To add a spouse, enter their national ID number and first name.
  3. Your spouse gets a one-time code (OTP) on their phone. Enter it, then click Submit.
  4. No phone or computer? Visit any SHA office or Huduma Centre, or ask a community health promoter to help you add dependants.

Watch out

  • Can't add your spouse? They must register on SHA themselves first.
  • At 18, a child stops being a dependant and must register and contribute on their own to keep using SHA.

  • A registered SHA member can add a spouse and children. There is no limit on the number of children.
  • Grandparents can add orphaned grandchildren using the "Loco Parentis" or "Adopted Child" option.
