For 5 November 2025 to 4 November 2026, KECOBO licensed only two CMOs: KAMP and PAVRISK. KAMP's licence has been suspended since 1 July 2026, so PAVRISK collects for KAMP's sectors through eCitizen meanwhile. KECOBO is now deciding the licences for the next year: check copyright.go.ke in November 2026 for the new list. New CMOs apply on eCitizen (copyright.ecitizen.go.ke) for KSh 250,000, and licences run for one year.

- To get a licence, apply on eCitizen (copyright.ecitizen.go.ke) when KECOBO invites applications, and deliver a paginated hard copy to KECOBO's reception.
- KECOBO publishes the applicants and invites written comments and a public hearing on whether each one is suitable.
- The KECOBO Board decides. Licences last one year from 5 November and come with conditions, so renew every year.
Watch out
- The public hearing on the 2027 applicants, set for 5 October 2026, was postponed until further notice. Watch copyright.go.ke for the new date.
- MCSK applied for 2025-2026 but was not among the CMOs licensed. Check the current list before paying any CMO.
- KECOBO upheld KAMP's suspension on 24 August 2026 until the issues it raised are fixed. PAVRISK holds the money collected for KAMP's sectors in trust.
Who can apply
- Organisations that meet the CMO requirements of the Copyright Act and the Copyright (Collective Management) Regulations 2020. Each sector of the copyright industry may have one licensed CMO.
