Pay your water bill or get a new connection in Malindi (MAWASCO)

Pay your Malindi water bill on M-Pesa paybill 708001, using your Malindi Water account number, or dial *483*75#. For a new connection, visit a MAWASCO office with your ID, KRA PIN and land or tenancy papers and fill the free application form.
- Fee
- You pay a refundable deposit and a new connection fee set by the gazetted water tariff. Ask the office for the current amounts.
- Deadline
- Pay your bill within 14 days of getting it

What you need
- Copy of your ID or passport, and your KRA PIN certificate
- Tenancy agreement (if renting), or a land sale agreement or title deed
Steps
- To pay a bill: M-Pesa > Lipa na M-Pesa > Paybill, business number 708001, account number = your Malindi Water account number.
- To check your bill, dial *483*75# and choose Check Bill. You get your balance by SMS. You can also pay from this menu.
- For a new connection, pick up the application form at a MAWASCO office. It is free, and staff will help you fill it.
- Return the filled form with your ID and land or tenancy documents.
- Pay the survey fee. MAWASCO surveys your plot and tells you what the connection needs within 24 hours.
- Pay the refundable deposit. You then get a meter and are connected.
Watch out
- Cut off? Clear the arrears and pay a KSh 1,000 reconnection fee.
- After paying, request reconnection on *483*75# or call customer care.
- Your first bill comes within one month of being connected.
