Go to UFAA

What you need

  • The asset Excel sheet downloaded from the portal, filled in
  • Form 1 signed by the MD/CEO, a cover letter and the bank remittance slip

Steps

  1. Try to trace the owners, and send each one a written notice at their last known address 60 days to 1 year before you file.
  2. Register on the UFAA Holders Portal (holders.ufaa.go.ke), activate the account from your email and fill in your company and contact person details.
  3. Under 'My submission', file a new submission and pick Nil return, Cash (money paid into the UFAA account at CBK) or Non-Cash (such as shares or safe deposit boxes).
  4. Download the Excel form for your asset type, fill in every owner's details and upload it.
  5. Upload Form 1 signed by your MD/CEO, a cover letter and the bank remittance slip, enter the deposit or RTGS reference and submit.

Watch out

  • You must pay or hand over the assets at the same time you file the report, not later.
  • The total in your Excel sheet must match the amount you paid into the bank, or the report will not tally.
  • The owner ID field is mandatory. Where an owner's ID is missing, use your holder ID code followed by a serial number (6-8 digits in total).

Who can apply

  • Any holder: a bank, insurer, business or other entity holding financial assets on behalf of an owner.
