- How long
- EMS Overnight: within 24 hours. EMS Same Day: same day if posted by 12pm.
- Where
- Any Posta office or EMS acceptance centre (over 285 countrywide). Head office: Posta House, Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi (0719072600 / 0730642000, info@posta.co.ke).
Steps
- Choose the speed. EMS Same Day works within the same town (up to 30km) if you post by 12pm. EMS Overnight reaches any destination within 24 hours.
- Take the item to a Posta office. EMS is accepted at over 285 centres countrywide and goes to over 3,000 destinations worldwide.
- Pay at the counter. The price depends on the destination zone and weight: the first 5 kg is one price, then you pay for each extra kg.
- Sending abroad? Declare what is inside at the post office, because every overseas parcel goes through customs.
Watch out
- A Posta Parcel (the cheaper option) is not delivered to the door. It goes to the receiver's post office, where they collect it.
- Big but light boxes can cost more: you are charged on actual weight or volumetric weight.
- Within Kenya the limit is 50 kg per item. For anything heavier, ask the Postmaster for a special arrangement.
Who can apply
- Anyone sending documents or parcels, within Kenya or abroad.
