Get a Nairobi Water connection or report a water problem

Apply for a new water or sewer connection online on the Nairobi Water portal, then pay through *260# (option 3, then option 1). Connection takes about 14 days. For burst pipes, blocked sewers or no water, call the Nairobi Water office for your region.

What you need
- Copy of your ID and KRA PIN
- Copy of a lease or tenancy agreement, title deed, or a Nairobi City County rates demand note
- One passport-size photo
- For tenants: copy of the landlord's ID and KRA PIN
Steps
- Clear any unpaid Nairobi Water bills on the property and on any account in your name first.
- Fill in the application on the Nairobi Water portal, upload your documents and mark your plot's location on the map.
- Download the completed form, sign it, pay, then upload the signed form back on the portal.
- To pay: dial *260#, choose 3 (Water & Sewer Service), then 1 (Connection/Deposit fees).
- Burst pipe, blocked sewer or no water? Call the Nairobi Water regional office for your area, or message @Nbiwater_Care, and give the exact location and nearest landmark.
Watch out
- Don't pay a new connection through M-Pesa paybill 444400. That paybill is only for bills on existing accounts. Use *260#.
- On top of the fees, you buy the connection materials and pay the connection charges.
- Never reconnect your own water after a disconnection. It is a criminal offence.

- Individuals: property owners, and tenants (with the landlord's ID and KRA PIN)
- Companies, with their KRA PIN and Certificate of Incorporation
